Text Box: Lynn Goya

Lynn and Alan Goya

Lynn Goya and her husband, photographer Alan Goya, who provided all images on this site, are an international travel writing team who have been exploring and documenting the environment, our cultural heritage and food & wine for the past 15 years.  She has now written two books with her son, explorer Alexander Goya.

Her work isn’t limited to research and writing.  She is a passionate advocate for a vibrant Green Nevada economy that creates sustainable communities.  As the founder of the first Green advocacy group in Nevada, the Green Coalition,  she brought together the Sierra Club, Senator Harry Reid’s office, local green businesses and green advocates to promote Cool Cities, clean energy and environmental education.

She coordinated Boulder City’s first  Earth Hour event and promoted in national media Las Vegas’ involvement as a Flagship City for the international Earth Hour,  a global effort organized by the World Wildlife Fun.  Goya ran for the state assembly on a platform of expanding Nevada’s leadership role in green energy and education.

A sustainable community, by definition, promotes the health and well being of the next generation.  She collaborated with the Nevada Institute for Children to write a history of Nevada for 4th Grade curriculum;  as a PTA President; pulled together the Clark County school district, the police, city traffic experts, parents and school administrators to create a safe drop-off zone for the local elementary schools; co-founded “Y-Art? Clark County High School Arts and Writing Competition,” that raised thousands of dollars for Clark County students; and founded the Youth Advocacy Council, that won the 1997 JC Penny Golden Rule Award for Best New Group for its work on behalf of local children and teens.

In addition to her nationally published freelance writing, Lynn owns Goya Media, a special events special events and communications company promoting Nevada’s Sustainable Economy including producing Green Expos that connect green businesses to much-needed customers while featuring speakers who are leaders in research, government and technology.  The events showcase cutting-edge environmental businesses and organizations that highlight the best of Nevada’s underrated Green Industry.

She lives in Boulder City, the burgeoning solar capital of the U.S.,  with her two husband, her sons, her daughter and their dog, Chase.
